Cross the Line Early Demo, December 2009
This was my first complete demo of Cross The Line from Bring It On: The Musical. I used Logic Pro. That’s my wife as the voice of the “deduction robot.” You can purchase the Cast Album and hear the final version wherever albums are sold.

I stayed up all night in my parents’ house and recorded this in my old bedroom. I had to go Method to wrestle this one. I’m writing to a piano track Tom Kitt recorded, and working with some drafts of lyrics that Amanda Green wrote. After this all-night angst bender, I got back in the room with them and we polished it until we had the song you hear Taylor Louderman sing so much better than this every night.

I spent all day yesterday chasing the lyrics for a new song. Lotsa coffee, lotsa walks, with no results. I woke up this morning, and they were waiting there for me in my mind, like Christmas morning. The lesson? Go to bed when your brain wants to go to bed. Sometimes that’s when the real work starts.” - Lin-Manuel Miranda
In addition to In the Heights, Tony and Grammy award-winner Lin-Manuel Miranda also co-wrote the music and lyrics for Bring it On, currently playing on Broadway. Visit bringitonmusical.com for tickets and showtimes. (via 10outof12)
